Screen printed patches are a unique type of patch similar to sublimated patches. Screen printed patches work well with multi-colored, complex logos with smaller and finer details. Screen printed patches are great for many custom logo apparel products such as caps, bags, and more. Screen printed patches are best for bulk and larger orders, compared to embroidered patches or woven patches. Screen printed patches can be used for on-demand orders, drop-shipping, and smaller orders. For screen printed patches, the ink sits on top of the fabric and screen printing usually uses a woven screen and squeegee to apply the ink to the patch.Â
Screen printed patches can come in various shapes and sizes similar to embroidered patches, woven patches, and sublimated patches. For screen printed patches with simple shapes, they can have a merrowed edge or satin stitched edge and are hand stitch applied to the apparel item such as a hat. For complex shape screen printed patches, they only have a satin stitched edge and are heat press applied to the hat.
Screen printed patches utilize two types of edges - merrowed edge or satin stitch edge. Merrowed edge, which is the standard and most common, wraps around the edge of a patch. A satin stitch edge is applied on top of the patch. A merrowed edge can stop the patch from fraying and this overlaps directly on the patch’s edge. A satin stitch edge is thinner and does not overlap the patch’s edge.
Screen printed patches usually show smaller details better compared to embroidered patches or woven patches. Logos with many colors or bright colors may show up better on screen printed patches.
