Richardson's etched leather offers a more natural, rugged appearance than debossed leather. In order to create debossed leather, Richardson stamps logos with ink into the leather.

Etched leather applique is preferred for moderate to complex logos with small detail that can be transferred to a one-color application (multi-colored or complex color logos are better suited for patches, transfers, or embroidery). Logos are laser etched onto the applique (etched refers to the laser machine that "etches" directly into the leather). Genuine leather and faux leather are available.

Logos etched onto an applique in a simple shape (circle, rectangle, square, etc.) are stitch applied to the hat.
Logos etched onto an applique, then cut into a complex shape, are heat press applied to the hat.
Genuine leather and faux leather options are available.
Faux leather comes in more than 20 colors, genuine leather 2 colors, and genuine cork 1 color.
