The cheapest place to buy custom hats is overseas from countries such as China, Bangladesh, and Vietnam, but most of the factories have high minimums (144+), do not work directly with retail customers, lead times are long (1-2+ months), and shipping costs expensive. In these countries overseas, custom hats at higher quantities can be as cheap as $2.
For most consumers and customers purchasing custom hats in the United States, they will be buying from a local retailer, online company, embroidery shop, promotional products supplier, or hat company/manufacturer. Custom hat prices from these sources will range from $5-6 on the very low end to $25+ on the high end. On average, most custom hats should be around $15-20 for lower quantity orders and $10-15 for higher quantity orders.
Custom hats may cost more if the logo or design has a higher stitch count. This is a result of more embroidery thread being used and more importantly the greater labor cost and time it takes to stitch the logo on the apparel such as shirts, hats, jackets, bags, etc.
